The conjuring teaser trailer content and structure analysis.

In the conjuring 2 teaser trailer the film uses change in pace to keep the audience attention. This is done by using a change in pace from a slow tempo that creates tension with music in a low minor key to a montage sequence with high notes that creates a contrast in section. This is used in the beginning of the trailer where the montage is earlier on - followed by a title card and then a moment of tension in the basement followed by two claps to again change the tempo/pace. The main reason for this is to show important pieces in the montage without showing the scene and giving away too much information - this also has use of the enigma code in which the threat is not fully explained and becomes a mystery so the audience will want to 'consume'  the film. The trailer also uses binary opposites from Vladimir Propps character theory; The villain and The princess. while the main woman is not shown to be 'desired' by the hero - they are shown to be in need of savin

Semiotics.
