"How far do changes to the regulation of media reflect broader social changes?"

The purpose of regulation is to protect the public from harmful or explicit content – this is mostly applied to children or venerable adults. Over the years regulation has become more lax with the internet eventually contributing to the idea that information and shows are always available online. This shows the decline of regulation efficiency due to the fact that the internet is less regulated than both film (bbfc) and television (ofcom). The internet is part of reactive regulation as it happens after the information is made public, The bbfc can classify, censor or ban them completely and I part of proactive regulation. And lastly Ofcom is a government lead regulator in charge of television regulation they can use classification and put above 18 content after the watershed, they can fine companies and channels or revoke the channels right to broadcast. Treatment (short and longer version)

S hort version:   Teenagers/victims go into woods to  party. They  pass a small burial ground  purposefully   de stroying   it. K urt  becomes  possessed. Kurt  shows signs and  Clara  asks if  he's  okay then take to walking him home. They 'get busy' before  Kurt  strangles her  to  death. Wade  Terrence  and  Alyssa  find the body then split up to find  Kurt  (see if  he's  okay/alive). Alyssa passes burial area discovering a key necklace attached to tree ( unlocks box in the hollow of the bottom of the tree ) Terence decides to kill Wade using a beer bottle. Terence tries to dispose body but is found by  Kurt  and killed by knife to the throat. Alyssa returns and sees  Kurt  over wade and  Terence's  bodies. She and Kurt fight. Regulation

Regulation is the censorship of particularly harmful content and footage that is available to the public. This can be via blocking it altogether or a system that allows for people of certain ages being able to access media (the age rating on films, games, websites and even some books) this of course has to be implemented with laws or the regulation would not work – however some people still do not follow that understanding and illegal proxy sites like pirate bay exists in which people can steal content as long as they have the means. Schools can regulate what their students see (via networks which is a much smaller scale regulation) and are prone to block indecent websites as well as social media sites. An example in music is the censoring of words considered crass or cuss. Regulators on the other hand must be a well informed diverse group of people with different views.
